JUSTIFICACIÓN:
This course will help students recognize the real use of English as a
CEF B2 level user. Also, students by realizing their current dominance of the
language will be involved in improving their level in all the skills. As
users of intermediate English, students as experts in language will adopt the
position of current and future teachers, following all the requirements of
the educational settings in which they can apply their knowledge.

aprendizaje del inglés como lengua extranjera

Presentation and negotiation of the program, including its corresponding
books.
Week 2
Identity: who do you think you are?, men and women, tell about
yourself, second life. Review of tenses.
Week 3
Tales. Fact or fiction, what really happened? I don’t believe it!
Hustle. Present perfect vs. simple past
Week 4
Contact. You are going where? Getting connected, in other words, future
tenses-modal verbs
Week 5
Jobs. Millionaires, dream work, that’s a good idea. Modals of
obligation.
Week 6
First assignment and evaluation. Consolidation modules 1-4
Week 7
Solutions. Machines, ask the experts, top gear. Modals of obligation,
used to and would.
Week 8
Emotion. Feeling stressed, the people watchers, that’s great news, the
worst week. O-1 and second conditionals
Week 9
Success. The secret of success, the memory men, are you qualified?
Present perfect Vs. continuous, present and past modals of ability.
Week 10
Communities. Neighbours, my
place in cyberspace, tribe. Articles quantifiers, relative clauses.

Second assignment and evaluation. Consolidation modules 5-8.

METODOLOGIA (Descripción de la metodología de acuerdo a las
modalidades de trabajo contenidas en la normatividad de la universidad: 1.

TD:
Students will improve their skills in conducting presentations as well
as their application of teaching strategies, reading comprehension and
written reports.
TC:
Students will prepare presentations, debates and reports of their
approach to literature and research.
TA:
Students will work on their visits to the different institutions to
obtain information about methodologies, schedules and access. Besides, the
use of on-line tools will be of vital importance to practice and learn about
structures and practice listening.
Class organization: Turn off your mobile phones during class
time. Avoid going out and coming in the classroom, this disturbs your
classmates and the teacher. Listen to each other when speaking. Every single
paper should be handed in the due date. No papers will be received after due
date. No papers will be accepted via e-mail

EVALUACION (Seguimiento evaluativo en relación
con las competencias y modalidades de trabajo contenidas en la normatividad
de la universidad)
There will be three general grades, one each period, according to the
University regulations. Each one will result from class-work (oral
presentations, partial oral and written reports, individual, peer-group work,
quizzes), reflective papers, as well as self-evaluation obtained from
students’ individual conscious evaluation guided by some criteria established
in agreement with teacher and students at the beginning of the course, and
partial tests that cover the topics addressed throughout the course, studied
in each period. Grading will be reported as follow:

INASISTENCIA: This course requires students to be present and prepared for each
class. Regular class attendance is expected of all students. Absences
without notifying the teacher and exceeding what is allowed according to the
student’s booklet will be deemed excessive and may result in the student
being dropped from the course. In addition, tardiness may be counted as an absence. If a student must enter
the classroom after class has begun, please do so as quietly as possible.
Each student is responsible for lectures missed due to absences. Thus, it is
suggested that each student secures lecture notes from a student who
attended the class. University regulations will be followed for any situation
that involves both attendance and plagiarism.
